Intersession week 3

Posting a bit late, as I got caught up in cleaning the house and making dinner for some friends.

I hope everyone had a good Easter/ holiday weekend.  Did you get a chocolate Easter egg or Easter bunny? Is it as good as the one you imagined?

Goals from last week:

Contingent Cassandra

--Continue recovery, including completing assigned PT exercises, adding back in walking and other leg-focused exercises as feels appropriate, humming and other gentle vocalization
--Continue leisure reading
--Write/submit at least brief written comment re: DEI resolution
--Maybe a bit of drawer and/or paper sorting if I'm feeling up to it

heu mihi

This week:
1) Read 4 more chapters of the manuscript (let's be ambitious)
2) Request or track down library books for abstract due 5/30
3) Process journal revision
4) Read honors thesis draft
5) Stay on top of grad student's exam prep documents
6) Finish fundraiser emails (probably with the help of a colleague who's much better at this kind of thing!)

Ughh I want everything to be DONNNNNNNE.

Susan

1. 2 more chapters at least. With luck, figure out the 3rd, which I need to split
2. 2 image requests
3. Do panel submission for conference
4. One more set of expenses
5. Weights x 2, Yoga x 2, walk

  1. I did get two dark chocolate easter bunnies. I bought both, as part of preparing to have friends over for easter supper. The first ones I found were little, and cute; the next day, on a flying stop at a store for milk, I saw the others on sale. Both are dark chocolate, but also hollow. My friends were really pleased with the easter bunnies! (I haven't tried them yet -- they brought a rich cake for dessert, so my sugar quotient had been surpassed!)

    How I did
    1. 2 more chapters at least. With luck, figure out the 3rd, which I need to split NOT QUITE (see below)
    2. 2 image requests NO
    3. Do panel submission for conference NO
    4. One more set of expenses STARTED
    5. Weights x 2, Yoga x 2, walk YES NO YES

Well, I realized as I hit the end of the 2nd chapter I was revising that what my editor said was splitting one chapter was really recasting two chapters as three. SO I got almost to the end and started thinking about what to put where, but the chapter that is being split was structured thematically, and the new structure will be chronological. And my head hurts. Today I learned about a book being published in the UK tomorrow which will help, and I've now ordered it, hoping to get it in a few weeks so I can use it.

    Goals:
    1. Finish restructure of chap 6/7 into 6/7/8
    2. At least look at Epilogue and think about how to split (this is less difficult)
    3. Do Conference submission
    4. Finish expenses
    5. Weights x2, Yoga x1, walk x 2
    6. Enjoy activities with friend from home who is visiting this weekend.

  2. Hello!
I got an excellent chocolate bunny from my department chair as a surprise bonus, it was excellent. I also spent a lot of time baking with kid on the weekend, we made an excellent lime curd tart and a bunch of other stuff so it was great fun. Finally conquered shortbread!
Last week's nice thing - a student that had been lingering for a while defended a thesis, and we got all the corrections done in time for graduation deadlines. Other nice thing was a three-day field trip with students, we had good weather and beautiful places and it was lovely.

    Goals for the week:
ALL the admin things - I have a two-page list...
    Finish all grading
    Read new thesis chapters
Do a bunch of analytical work for upcoming talk/paper (THIS IS IMPORTANT!)

    1. Yay for department chairs who provide excellent chocolate bunnies! And students who complete and graduate. That the weather cooperated with your field trip seems an added bonus.

    2. An extra yay for the chair! All mine is currently providing is added stress due to ceasing to be a reliable signer and forwarder of forms... a chocolate bunny would definitely help me accept this development!

  3. Here very late; Easter was a very nice break even I I did spend most of it doing Very Little - recovery mode is also valid! This week's goals are basically marking - I'm only working two days and there are (ugh) meetings to attend - and self care.

I got a box of little solid dark chocolate bunnies, and some dark chocolate wrapped marzipan, and a milk chocolate "bunny bar" (normal bar shape with bunny and chicks pattern on the surface) which was very delicious high quality chocolate for Easter. And a wooden caterpillar fiddle toy for my office (thanks sis - it's actually really fun to play with).

    So goals are basically:
    - mark three final year projects and at least two questions from first year short answer quiz
    - get caught up on dishes
    - read an entire novel and an entire non-fiction book as a MINIMUM
